Byzantium was the result of a few years of recordings I did in parallel with Skin. Mostly keyboards and stylistically all over the map. After I got that out of my system I started writing on guitar, and looking for alternatives to relentless drum machine beats (which you can hear in "Cat's Glass Eye").
